We, alongside the California Housing Defense Fund, petitioned the courts against the City of Palo Alto on 2/3/2023 for failing to meet the State’s Housing Element Law. The City was supposed to comply by 1/31/2023 but never even submitted a draft revision of its housing element in accordance with the change in state law. A letter was sent to the City notifying them that litigation would be foregone if they acknowledged their failure to comply and did not reject any proposed housing development plans. However, the City did not respond to the letter, forcing us to pursue this case by way of court intervention.
